What Makes a Suede Trucker Jacket Different from a Denim One?

A suede trucker jacket trades denim's stiffness for hide that softens with wear. It keeps the same button front, chest pockets, and boxy cut but suede ages into a richer texture instead of just fading. Ours is cut from 0.85mm goat suede, light enough for three-season wear.

Denim jackets fade. Suede ones deepen.

Craftsmanship & Material Breakdown

Suede Type & Origin

This jacket comes from goat suede, chosen specifically for the trucker silhouette because it holds a crisp collar shape without going stiff at the elbows. The nap runs slightly lighter than our bomber's, closer to a sueded canvas hand-feel, which is intentional. Trucker jackets are meant to look lived-in fast.

Tanning is the same vegetable-assisted chrome process we use across the suede line, balancing flexibility with structure.

Hardware & Lining Specs

Brass-tone shank buttons run the front placket, no zipper, true to the original western trucker design. Two chest pockets with button flaps sit high enough to clear a belt. The lining is unlined at the body for breathability, with a light cotton facing at the collar to prevent neck irritation.

Fit & Sizing Guidance

The trucker cut runs boxier through the body by design. It's meant to layer over a flannel or hoodie without restricting the shoulders.

  • Want it as a standalone layer: true to size
  • Planning to layer over a hoodie or sweater: size up one
  • Prefer a closer, tucked-in look: size down one

How to Style the Brown Suede Bomber

Casual Day Look: Indigo denim, plain tee, white sneakers or work boots. This is the jacket's natural habitat, unfussy, American workwear DNA.

Layered Cold-Weather Look: Over a flannel or chunky knit, with chinos and leather boots. The boxy cut accommodates layers without looking bulky.

How Do You Care for a Suede Trucker Jacket?

Brush after every few wears with a suede brush in one consistent direction. Spot-treat oil stains immediately with cornstarch before they set. Suede absorbs oil fast and it's harder to lift once dried in. Avoid storing it folded; hang it to keep the collar shape intact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a suede bomber jacket good for everyday wear?

Yes. Goat suede is durable enough for daily wear and softens with use rather than wearing out. Expect it to mold to your shoulders within the first few weeks.

Does suede stain easily?

Suede is more stain-prone than smooth leather because the nap absorbs liquid quickly. A suede protector spray applied before first wear significantly reduces this risk.

Can you wear a suede bomber jacket in the rain?

Light rain is fine if the jacket has been treated with protector spray. Avoid heavy or prolonged rain — suede absorbs moisture and can water-spot.

What's the difference between suede and nubuck on a bomber jacket?

Suede comes from the underside of the hide and has a softer, fuzzier nap. Nubuck comes from the top grain and is more durable but slightly less plush. For a full comparison, see our suede vs nubuck breakdown.

How long does a goat suede bomber jacket last?

With regular brushing and protector spray, expect 8–12 years of wear before the nap noticeably thins.
