This men's black cafe racer jacket is built from full-grain cowhide with a sewn-in loop panel on the back, designed to hold hook-backed patches. It ships with one embroidered crest patch included. Patches attach and remove without re-stitching or damaging the leather. Made to order.
One Jacket, Not Two Purchases
Here's the usual route if you want a patch on a plain jacket. You buy the jacket from one place. You order a patch from Etsy or a patch shop somewhere else. You hope the backing on the patch actually matches whatever surface you've got, and if it doesn't, you're now researching how to sew a loop panel onto a finished jacket yourself.
This one skips that. The loop panel gets sewn in during construction, before the jacket is even assembled, so it's built into the back panel the same way our fixed-crest jackets are. One crest patch ships with it. Swap it out whenever you want. It sits within our crested leather jacket collection alongside the fixed-crest builds, so you can compare both approaches side by side.
How the Swap System Actually Works
The back panel carries a sewn loop panel, roughly 4 inches by 5 inches. That's the soft side of a hook-and-loop system, sewn directly into the leather during construction rather than glued on afterward. Glue lifts over time. Stitching doesn't.
Your included crest patch has a hook backing on the reverse. Press it onto the loop panel, and it holds. Peel it off, and there's no residue, no stitch marks, nothing left behind on the leather. Any standard hook-backed patch sized to fit the panel will work the same way, not just the one that ships with the jacket.

Built to Order
This jacket ships 10 to 15 business days after order confirmation. The loop panel gets sewn in during the same construction pass as the rest of the jacket, so it doesn't add extra lead time beyond the standard build.
Who This Jacket Is For
This one's for the guy who doesn't want to commit to one design forever. Motorcycle club members who swap patches based on rides or affiliations. Guys who want a plain jacket most days and a statement piece on others.
Anyone who was already planning to buy a blank jacket and a separate patch, since this gets you both without the compatibility gamble. If you'd rather have a permanent crest instead of a swappable one, that's a cleaner, simpler build with the same cafe racer cut.
How It Wears In
Same cowhide, same break-in curve as our other cafe racer builds. Stiff for the first handful of wears, easing up around the shoulders and collar by month two or three. The loop panel itself doesn't change how the leather ages. It sits flush with the rest of the back panel and softens right along with it.
Sizing and Fit
- Cafe racer cut runs slimmer through the chest and arms, size up if you're between sizes
- Built for minimal layering, a t-shirt or thin button-down underneath
- The loop panel sits centered on the back panel and doesn't affect fit or movement
- Check the size chart against your chest and shoulder measurements before ordering. Want to see this cut in other finishes? Browse the rest of our cafe racer leather jackets for more options in the same silhouette.
Swappable Patch vs. Buying Separately
| Feature | This Jacket | Blank Jacket + Third-Party Patch |
|---|---|---|
| Loop panel | Sewn in at construction | Requires separate installation, often DIY |
| Compatibility risk | None, patch and panel matched | Backing may not match panel material or size |
| Included patch | One embroidered crest included | Purchased separately, added cost |
| Vendors involved | One | Two, separate shipping and lead times |
| Price | $309 | Jacket cost plus patch cost, typically $30 to $60 more |
Care and Longevity
- Wipe down with a damp cloth after rain exposure
- Condition every 4 to 6 months
- Keep the loop panel free of lint and debris. Buildup in the loop fibers reduces how well patches grip over time
- Store on a broad-shouldered hanger, patch attached or removed, either is fine for storage
